Arm Lift

in Grand Rapids, MI

Excess skin and fat on the upper arms can cause people to feel self-conscious especially when wearing short sleeves. Aging skin can cause the arm tissue to sag creating an undesirable look. To improve the look of the upper arms, Dr. Iacobucci provides arm lifts. In Grand Rapids, Michigan many patients seek out Dr. Iacobucci’s expertise to feel more confident in themselves.

What is an Arm Lift?

An arm lift, professionally referred to as Brachioplasty, removes excess skin and fat from the upper arms to create a slim, sculpted contour. This way patients can feel confident in themselves and finally feel comfortable wearing short sleeves to show off their arms.

How is an Arm Lift Done?

There are various types of ways that Brachioplasty can be done. Depending on the extent of change wanted and your concerns, Dr. Iacobucci will help to choose the right method for you. The different methods are liposuction, limited-incision Brachioplasty, standard Brachioplasty, and extended Brachioplasty.

Liposuction

If your skin has good elasticity, then this may be a good option for you. After the fat is removed, your skin will be able to shrink around the remaining tissues.

Limited-Incision Brachioplasty

If there is excess skin that is close to the armpit, then this can be a good option. Dr. Iacobucci will take this excess skin and pull it into the armpit. This is best for people who do not have too much fatty tissue.

Standard Brachioplasty

This is the most common type of Brachioplasty. It is needed when you have excess skin that extends from the armpit to the elbow, often referred to as a batwing.

Extended Brachioplasty

This is like a standard Brachioplasty except that the incision is extended to the body so that any loose skin and fat that’s along the chest wall can also be removed.

Recovery from Arm Lift

Arm lifts are done as outpatient procedures so you will be able to return home the day of your surgery. Dr. Iacobucci will give you a compression garment to help minimize any swelling. Most patients will need to take at least two weeks off of work to recuperate. It is important to remember to keep your arms elevated and to avoid any strenuous activity. Dr. Iacobucci will provide you with detailed instructions to ensure your healing time is as easy as possible.

Who is a Candidate for an Arm Lift?

If you have skin laxity and fatty tissue on your arms then you could be a candidate for a Brachioplasty. To be considered for this surgery you should be at a healthy weight, a nonsmoker, and have realistic expectations for the results. To know for sure if you can get an arm lift, Dr. Iacobucci will examine your skin and go over your medical history.
